Hanapepe Ridge Well (02-5634-01), Kauai

The Hanapepe Ridge well (02-5634-01) is located in the Hanapepe area of southern Kauai. Water levels in the well reflect the altitude of the water table in the Koloa Volcanics. The well was drilled for the State of Hawaii in 1961 and continuous monitoring began in 1986. The well was drilled to a depth of 508 ft from an altitude of about 440 ft. The well is open to the aquifer between altitudes of -30 and -68 ft. This station is operated by Vaughn Kunishige of the Honolulu field office and is equipped with a satellite transmitter delivering water-level updates every hour.
